ATTENTION: ALL PASTORS,re HANDHOLDING AT CHURCH
Asking the parishioners to randomly hold hands with the person next to them is out-dated! Its NOT edifying to anybody but you . It makes people uncomfortable & forces a "interaction" that can have negative consequences. The person next to you may not want to hold your hand,or vice-versa,and so what's the benefit? Most people will "obey" the pastor,but don't enjoy it & get nothing from it. A few may simply disobey and hurt another person's feelings. Others obey but then quickly wipe their hands on their shirt afterwards,again causing negative feelings.My take is that the ONLY PERSON who feels good about the whole church hilding hands is the pastor giving the command.
Nice service @ emmanuel reformed in paramount today until
..until the older pastor (maybe the senior pastor) took the pulpit after the young intern (clark) had preached his sermon. The older pastor then actually preached another sermon and then asked us to hold hands with the person next to us . Uggh! This is an out-dated thing. I don't think there's many,if any, who enjoy holding hands with the random person next to them. Maybe it makes the pastor feel good,but he may be the only one. NOBODY really is edified by it but the pastor, and we feel like a social experiment for the pastor's sake.

-- I'VE WATCHED some of his youtube videos (this one is about Kent, not by Kent) and he seems like a decent guy, seems intelligent, seems to support mainstream Christianity...everything he says seems about right (although I haven't seen or heard all he says...and one thing I have problems with is that he seems to agree with conspiracy theories about the world trade center attack, as if the govt may have been in cahoots with it)...in general however he seems like a conservative Christian and he defends Biblical creation as opposed to evolution, ..and he may be a bit eccentric in some ways (ie he doesn't believe in having a social security number, says it's not actually a legal requirement; and he's against becoming a 501c3 ministry...says he doesn't need govt permission to be a non-profit ministry; among other things) ...but he's in jail now..apparently for about 8 years for "structuring" whatever that means (this video tries to explain it..says it was meant to help prosecute drug dealers which Kent is definitely not). ..; i just heard about him for the first time last night as I was listening to the Alex Jones show..and Kent called in to the show from prison...and spoke for a few minutes...so today I looked him up and watched a few of his videos (one where he defended creation against an evolutionist)...another where he's speaking to a group ...; I just get the feeling that he's been targeted by the government more than rightfully jailed for serious wrongdoing. Compare him to Al Sharpton who is said to owe millions to the IRS in back taxes yet remains as free as a bird; while Kent promised to pay any back taxes, yet is in prison, in part, apparently due to some of these entanglements (at least that's what it says elsewhere, although in this video they say his being in prison has nothing to do with taxes). ...; you see the govt can actually throw anybody in jail and we don't know if they've been rightfully jailed or not...especially now with all the blogs and other social media...we just can't unravel the truth by going online and reading what people write ...nor what the government writes for that matter (it could be legal fiction or fact)...and the sleazy govt attorneys (as opposed to the honest govt attorneys...yes there are some, and we should be thankful for them) know how to manipulate the system in their favor. They can lie, cheat, cover-up, hide things, not give truthful testimony or evidence, etc
(i call it being "hugh halford'ed" ie you've been halford'ed ...explain why some other time...but i can assure you its based on personal experience). ...so keep Kent Hovind in your thoughts & prayers..and social media...spread the world..give this guy a break..there is NO WAY he should be in prison this long..and they apparently want to keep him in even longer. ABSOLUTELY UNFAIR !

DANGEROUS AD on CATHOLIC RADIO:
I WAS LISTENING to CATHOLIC RADIO here in southern California yesterday as I often do...usually they are fair & balanced re the relationship between Catholics & Protestants...but then i heard an ad for a book entitled "The Real Story of the Reformation" and they mentioned Calvin & Luther, and suggested maybe the reformation was in fact a "revolution" and they said that perhaps the reformers actually wanted to "destroy the church". I couldn't believe it! That's going too far & is dangerous rhetoric by Catholic radio. One of my concerns about Catholicism (& I attend & support various catholic churches, as well as protestant) is that sometimes they seem more concerned about people becomeing "catholic" rather than becoming simply "followers & believers of Christ" and filled with the fruits of the Spirit. Sometimes i sense an attitude of competition by some of the catholic talk show hosts who are always defending catholicism as opposed to protestants et al. I want to encourage them to promote UNITY, albeit on the other hand I know there are some protestants who go overboard in attacking the roman catholic church, which creates this defensive attitude on the part of some catholics. So i also encourage various protestants to stop the outlandish attacks on all catholics and the pope et al. We need UNITY in Christ...one body!

GOOD EXPLANATION re EYE--for-an-EYE in OLD TESTAMENT
I WAS LISTENING to catholic radio yesterday (3/5/15) as I took an exercise walk on the Corona Del Mar beach (always have pocket radio & headphones with me, tuned into the news)...and I heard a caller ask about "eye for an eye" ...and they expressed concern why God would be so harsh in the OT but everything changes in the NT. The radio person (it may have been Pat Madrid) explained that back in the OT days it was like the wild west..and "justice" often went overboard, so if somebody cut off a person's arm, the retribution might be to take the attacker's life, along with his entire family. Thus God's law was intended to create a "maximum" retribution, not a minimum. That is, the "eye for an eye" commandment was to put a LIMIT on how much revenge one could take at the time, but it allowed for LESS. They were not required to take an eye-for-an-eye, but if they did deem "justice" necessary, they were limited to balanced retribution. That put's God in a different light.
