12/7/14 calvary chapel downey, pastor Jeff Johnson...this is a popular church..maybe even bigger than the original calvary chapel in costa mesa..Jeff Johnson talks about his past days when he was involved in drugs...then he came to Christ..makes a few jokes about how seminary doesn't ordain men but God does..(is this a calvary chapel "distinctive"? I remember Brian Broderson has been sarcastic about seminary and studying greek & hebrew etc. as well) But don't calvary chapel pastors have any education? How do they become the leader of the calvary chapel? Just by force of personality ? or good ol' boys club? Are there any calvary chapels with non-white pastors? female pastors? What's the road to leadership at a calvary chapel?
