1/3/14 NY TIMES re RISE of "CALVINIST EVANGELISM"
(Needless to say, as much as calvinism has had an impact on this country,there are a steadfast group of anti-calvinists who keep pouinding their drum (including at fuller seminary,)...and sometimes they speak of "calvinism" & "midwest" synonomously.In this article they seem to be actually taking a subtle shot at calvinism,implying that calvinist preachers are "sneaking"into churches under the guise of being non-calvinist, ha ha..if such is the case it tells how much anti-calvinist prejudice there is..I wouldn't have a chance at such places having "calvin" all over my transcript & "christian reformed" as well,..I think this has impeded my progress in terms of a formal job in southern cal as well,..b/c anybody who does an online search of calvin,grand rapids, etc is going to first see the word "conservative" as well..u put calvinism,conservative,& midwest into the same sentence around southern cal and its like saying "nazi" or "adolf hitler"..its "word magic"...the words themselves kill the person,regardless of the person's actual disposition.You add "Dutch" to the mix and some people think of apartheid and south Africa.It does NOT bode well for me in this regard.And yet apparently a lot of young people are taking a HANKERING towards calvinist preaching..so maybe there is some hope!
